CHINESE WEEK 2007
YEAR OF THE BOAR
FEBRUARY 12-18, 2007
Phoenix Chinese Week Committee, in cooperation with the Phoenix Sister Cities Commission, is proud to present CHINESE WEEK 2007, a series of cultural, social and educational events celebrating the rich and diverse Chinese ethnic and cultural heritage. Chinese Week 2007 events will be held throughout the greater Phoenix area February 12th thru the 18th. 2007. Highlights of this tribute to the Valley's Chinese community and Phoenix's Sister City of Taipei, Taiwan, will include a three-day Culture and Cuisine Festival, a variety performance show from Taipei, Children's Pavilion and a Chinese New Year Banquet.
The Chinese New Year is traditionally celebrated on the first lunar moon. In Chinese, the lunar New Year is known as "Spring Festival". According to the Chinese Zodiac, this is the Year of the Boar or Year 4705. Boars are cheerful, generous, confident, influential, successful, tolerant and fortunate. People born in the Year of the Boar enjoy reading, cooking, walking, windsurfing and shopping. Boars make good teachers, researchers, actors, farmers and painters. They are compatible with the rabbit and sheep, but their opposites are the monkey, snake and boar.
